AbyAMC Stovetop Grill Review: A Smarter Way to Grill Indoors

This cookware offers all the appeal of a mouth-watering summer cookout, without the mess and the need to be outdoors.

Does anyone else find themselves missing the tasty barbecues of summer all year round? Well, we have the perfect solution for deliciously grill-marked burgers in any season. And if, like me, you live in a cozy (read: minimal square footage) city apartment with zero outdoor space, a good grill pan can bring both the char and charm of a summer cookout indoors.

The all-stainless AbyAMC Stovetop Grill is a new piece of cookware that promises a better indoor grilling experience, thanks to non-toxic materials, smart temperature control, and a unique diamond-patterned grilling surface. As someone who has no plans to invest in an outdoor grill anytime soon, I had to put these claims to the test. Here’s what I learned while testing the grill pan to help you make a decision if it’s right for you.

The Trouble with Traditional Indoor Grill Pans

If you’ve ever tried grilling inside, you likely know why it’s more of an outdoor activity. Grilling requires high heat, which can cause meat to sputter messy, hot fat all over your kitchen. There’s often smoke that’s hard for ventilation systems to handle, making your entire house smell like Monday night’s dinner until Wednesday.

Then, there are the grill pans themselves. They’re often made of cast iron, which is heavy and tends to heat slowly. Cast iron cookware retains very high temperatures, which is excellent for browning but can cause food to burn on the outside before it’s fully cooked in the center. Other indoor grill pans are made with nonstick coatings that may contain dangerous PFAS (aka ‘forever chemicals’) and don’t sear well or last very long. Finally, if you go the electric grill route for indoor grilling, they take up a lot of extra kitchen space, don’t always heat evenly, and can be difficult to clean.

Traditional grill pans also generally don’t come with lids to trap heat or minimize splattering. Ultimately, they lack the basics that make grilling fun and delicious: moisture control, good heat distribution, and a simple way to avoid overcooking. We’re long overdue for a better solution — enter AbyAMC’s smart indoor grill.

Why a Stovetop Grill?

With a stovetop grill like the one from AbyAMC, you get the experience of an outdoor grill right on your kitchen stove — without stepping outdoors or investing in a bulky appliance. It’s shaped like a shallow pot with ridges, and it sits directly on a gas, electric, or induction cooktop. I’d even go as far as to say this specific smart indoor grill upgrades the traditional grilling experience with superior convenience and everyday usability.

Key Features

Unlike most indoor grill options, the AbyAMC stovetop grill is made from 100% stainless steel with a unique diamond texture that adds extra surface area for easy browning. It features a tight-fitting lid that traps heat and moisture for tender, juicy proteins. And it also comes with a smart temperature sensor known as an audiotherm that gives you a precise read on what’s going on inside the grill, without having to remove the cover. This makes grilling easier for everyone from beginners to time-strapped home cooks.

The diamond-textured cooking surface creates crisp grill marks, and the design optimizes for convenience: it heats quickly, tracks the interior temperature, and is easy to clean.

Performance: How Well Does the AbyAMC Stovetop Grill Cook?

To me, the major selling point of this stovetop grill is simply how well it performs. The stainless steel heats quickly and evenly. When grilling turkey burgers, the patties browned uniformly and took on a nice crisp exterior with minimal added cooking fat. That’s not an easy feat for lean turkey, which can easily become gray and dry.

While you won’t get traditional grill lines from this pan, the diamond texture creates a beautiful, crisp sear that still adds marks. And the lid is a game-changer, especially with delicate items like seafood. Grilled salmon came out with nicely caramelized skin and a juicy, flaky center — I can’t even say the same for salmon cooked on an outdoor grill, which tends to dry out.

A Truly Smart Indoor Grill: What Is an Audiotherm?

The audiotherm attachment is a handy digital device that slips onto the handle on the lid of the pot. It uses Bluetooth to connect to your phone via AbyAMC’s Cook & Go app. Then, using the app and the digital display on the pot, the audiotherm operates like a monitor, giving you a reading of the temperature inside the pot at all times. When the contents of your grill pan hit the desired temperature for meat or vegetables, the device’s alarm chimes to let you know.

You can also use the audiotherm to follow a Cook & Go app recipe with step-by-step instructions and time recommendations, or wing it on your own and use the temperature readings to know when to check your food. It’s a great tool to eliminate the guesswork and give newer cooks confidence during indoor grilling. Plus, you’re never limited to the Cook & Go recipes — we’ve always got ideas to share with you, like these 7 vegan grilling ideas that go way beyond the veggie burger

Design and Build Quality

The first thing I noticed when unboxing the AbyAMC stovetop grill was how light it is. Especially compared to cast iron indoor grill pans, this stainless steel model is easy to maneuver and store. People choose indoor grilling over outdoor for its convenience, and this lightweight option offers the ultimate ease.

The plastic lid handle stays cool to the touch on the stove. As a whole, this pan feels durable and high-quality. The best part is that, unlike cast iron, it’s dishwasher-safe and requires no seasoning or special maintenance (I meant it when I said ultimate ease!). And unlike many traditional nonstick options, this smart indoor grill is non-toxic, long-lasting, and scratch-resistant.

Ease of Use and Cleaning

The beauty of stainless steel is that clean-up is incredibly easy — the stovetop grill and lid are both dishwasher-safe. When I tested it, the cooking surface came out of the dishwasher gleaming. I did have to scrub some splatters off the exterior of the pot, but nothing that took more than a minute or two.

As for ease of use, the audiotherm and the Cook & Go app make this grill pan smarter than most cookware. The temperature alarm helped me remember to check on the status of my meal on the stove — although I did find that my food wasn’t necessarily done when the audiotherm alarm rang. The ambient temperature in the pot didn’t equate to the internal temperature of the food itself, but I still appreciated its rough timing capabilities.

Note that the plastic audiotherm and lid handle cannot go in the oven and should be cleaned with a damp cloth, not in the dishwasher. Both are easy to remove for simple clean-up.

Value for Money

You can certainly find cheaper grill pans out there, but the AbyAMC smart indoor grill takes the cake when it comes to long-term durability and usability. If you value the convenience of cookware that’s dishwasher-safe and helps make you a better cook, it’s worth the investment. Stainless steel lasts longer than nonstick-coated options and requires less work than cast iron. The 30-year warranty and added tech features only sweeten the deal.

There are two price tiers depending on if you want the Master Grill with the audiotherm attachment or just the grill pan on its own, so it’s worth thinking about what you need in the kitchen.

Community Reviews and Expert Recommendations

AbyAMC is a newer brand, so community feedback for their smart indoor grill is still building. However, early reviewers love that the pan quickly produces a nice sear, makes weeknight cooking easier, and reduces the need for excess oils. Of course, many users also appreciate that the pan is dishwasher-safe and that the audiotherm technology helps cooks nail their timing without studying to become a grillmaster.

Experts who recommend the AbyAMC grill pan love the stainless steel materials, the diamond-textured grilling surface for better browning, and the advantage of a lid for moisture control.
